Period 5 -- Last Name Starts with N-Z

Your mission is to come up with a creative title for Chapters 18-20.
  1. Write the title out in quotations
  2. Below the title, write out a justification for your choice -- be sure to pull from those chapters specifically in order to support your title completely.

"It is you who are not human"

The relevance of this title comes from the fact that Frankenstein breaks the promise that he made to the monster. Frankenstein talks continuously about how the monster is inhuman and demonic. But it is Frankenstein who, blinded by rage, at first refuses to listen to the monster who just wants to talk like a civilized being. We see a strange contrast as in the previous chapters we learn the monster became more and more sophisticated. In these three chapters Frankenstein seems to become more and more like a monster. He makes a promise and breaks it, he lies about his motives, and he knowingly puts his loved ones in danger by defying the monster’s wishes. Frankenstein judges the monster on one choice (the decision to take revenge on Frankenstein). While the monster, even after reading the account of how much Frankenstein despised him, still insisted on meeting him hoping there was still some love in his heart. In this way Frankenstein is a hypocrite by persecuting his own creation.

*This line is actually from a longer quote “You criticize and attack people for their birth and upbringing - things they cannot change. It is you who are not human.” Which also can also be applied to the book.
